The Session
The Omar Amador's PH2 session is designed to get you the marketing materials needed to promote yourself within the entertainment industry. In order to do this Omar will shoot a minimum of 3 different looks for you. We do like to give everyone a wide range of looks so that you are able to use multiple shots for different marketing purposes. We will get into clothing a little later, but the best advice we can give you is that you bring a ton of your favorite stuff. Omar may choose to shoot more than 3 looks, so make sure you have a nice range of looks with you. He doesn't put a strict limit on the number of shots he takes and will shoot each look until he feels he's gotten it covered. Once you are done Omar has shot anywhere between 150 and 250 shots during the session. Part of our PH2 process is to edit the session with you as we go. After each look you will edit the entire shoot down with Omar through an approval process to the best pictures. You'll end up with somewhere between 50-75 final shots that you have approved as potential candidates for marketing yourself. By shooting and editing in this manner we can adjust the focus of the shots to account for anything that we feel we may have missed. You will be part of the process and we will discuss what we are doing as a team, this insures that you are pleased with the outcome of the session upon finishing. Shortly thereafter, these shots will be made available on your own password protected mini-website that can be accessed by clicking the client login link at www.colorworksnyc.com. You will be able to give the username and password to friends, family, agents, casting directors and anyone else who might help you choose the shots you decide to use. The site is a perfect tool for choosing your shots and remains online for a minimum of three months from the date of your shoot. In the future you can always refer back to your disk that Colorworks gives you to order new shots from your session.
Retouching & Printing
For Omar's NY and LA clients, once you've chosen your final shots you'll contact our printing house, Colorworks. For quality control purposes all of Omar's PH2 work is handled by Colorworks, so if you elect to shoot with us you will be using Colorworks for your retouching and printing needs. For his LA clients Colorworks will handle retouching your shots and Argentum Photo Lab will handle printing them. LA clients will approve retouching via email and their shots will be uploaded to Argentum's sever for printing. Anyone not in the NY or LA market that would like to use our printing and retouching system feel free to get in touch with Colorworks and they will handle everything for you.
Joe Barna and his assistant, Rob, are an integral part of the PH2 team and will handle everything for you after the shoot. First they will process the files at high resolution, prep them for printing, and retouch them for you for $45 per shot plus tax. Upon choosing your shots, they will work on them and set up an appointment for you to view and approve the retouching. You will critique the shots along with Joe and he will fine tune the retouching to your liking. He does all his work on separate layers of the digital file, you'll be able to see the before and after of each shot before approving it for printing. For those of you that are out of state, he will email you the original and retouched image for comparison and approval. They can handle all of your printing needs should you opt for postcards or business cards in addition to your 8x10's. They will show you a test print and run the number of copies that you choose to print upon your approval. You can see more information regarding rates for printing on the Colorworks website. Once you are done you will have your hard copies and a disk of the high resolution retouched shots as well as copies of all the shots from the entire session in a small jpeg format. In the future you will refer to the disk in order to pick any additional shots you’d like to reproduce. Feel free to use any of these jpegs for your own website or for emailing casting directors and agents. You can also use them to print a small picture on your resumé.
Your Clothing
We ask that everyone bring a bunch of different looks for themselves (for the most part tops only, unless you plan on doing a bunch of 3/4 shots). Rule #1: You have to love it! Any number of things can work, but you won't shoot well in something that you don't like. So make sure that you only bring the things you feel good wearing and mix it up with a bunch of different cuts and colors. Don't be seasonal because you'll be using these shots throughout the year. If you find yourself questioning whether or not something will work just bring it along.
Hair & Makeup
We highly recommend using our makeup artist for all women, so let us know if you'd like us to hire one for you. The cost of makeup for women is $150 for the session. If you feel you can handle this on your own that is fine, but make sure you show up with your makeup ready to roll. Bring whatever you need to do touch ups during the session. Our makeup artists start very naturally to give you a very clean look and will add makeup as you go. The makeup artist is there throughout the session in order to give you a subtle range of looks. We ask that everyone come in with their hair as if they are going to an audition. We want your headshot to match the way you will look in person. The makeup artist will help out, but you are in charge here. It’s got to be something that you can recreate for that audition. It's not required, but men can hire the makeup artist if you feel you need grooming on the shoot for $100. Also, for the guys who grow decent scruff or feel you can market yourself in that direction, you can come in with a some growth and we'll shoot until we feel we've gotten it covered and then you can shave, so bring your razor, etc.
Cost & Scheduling
The PH2 fee to shoot with Omar is $450 plus tax for the shoot. There is a $200 deposit required to book a session, this is non-refundable and goes towards the $450 total. The deposit is due at your convenience once you've gotten a space on Omar's calendar. If it's not received from one week from your shoot date then your session may be given to someone on Omar's waiting list.
Omar is based in Miami and spends most of his time shooting there. He flies to our NY studio every 2-3 weeks and to the LA studio once a month, so if you'd like to meet with him or shoot with him next time he is in your area let us know. He generally shoots 3 sessions per day. 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm. We do occasionally tweak those times depending upon the schedule each particular day. When shooting women that choose to have their makeup done, we stagger the sessions to allow for makeup. The sessions generally last about 2 hours without makeup and 2 1/2- 3 hours with a makeup artist. We ask our clients to give us 3 days notice should you need to cancel your session, otherwise you forfeit your deposit.
Payments
A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to book a session and is due after you've chosen a shoot date and scheduled it with Omar. Christy, Omar & Peter's assistant, handles most of the scheduling, but feel free to speak to any of us in order to book a session. We accept cash, checks as well as Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. The remaining balance plus the sales tax is due the day of the session. The makeup artist requires cash the day of the shoot.
